Apple season in Michigan is a special time of year. The days are still warm and the nights are a little crisp. Sunny afternoons call out for a trip to a local orchard to fill up a bag or basket with freshly picked apples. I cannot resist that call and often make several trips throughout the fall to gather as many different varieties of apples as I can.
But I have a problem. I want to pick ALL the apples. My husband usually has to tell me to stop or I would pick way more than either of us could carry back to the car. Because of this little addiction of mine, I’ve learned to be creative in how I preserve my apples. Of course, they are wonderful eaten fresh from the tree, but I like to make my harvest last by preserving some of the apples and also enjoying them in fun new dishes!
