Are you cultured?

I try to be cultured, but I sometimes struggle. 😉

That’s where this amazing new book from Lisa at Lisa’s Counter Culture (also the name of her book) comes in to save me!

I don’t often buy cookbooks these days, because I tend to just go to Google and find what I need. But, after hearing all the buzz about Lisa’s new book, I knew that it was a resource I needed to invest in. And I am SO pleased that I did. I have only had this cookbook for a month or so and I have read it cover to cover and have also referred back to it countless times.

Lisa is the founder of Lisa’s Counter Culture and she teaches workshops in the San Francisco Bay area of California. She is passionate about real, organic foods and loves to share this passion with others. She understands that while traditional foods diets can be healing and nourishing, they need to be tailored to fit the needs of our modern world. She offers coaching both locally and remotely and is also a regular contributor to Paleo Magazine.

Pickles and Other Well-Bred Foods

With this book, you are not only getting great fermenting information and recipes, from Lisa (who is a fermenting expert, btw), but you’re also getting recipes for other real foods that will nourish your body. Fermented foods are typically served as a condiment, depending on the item, so if you need some meal ideas to serve your ferments with, this book has you covered! Best of all, the recipes are not complicated, meaning you won’t be slaving away in the kitchen for hours on end, just to prepare a healthy meal!

In Lisa’s Counter Culture book, you will get:

  • Step-by-step instructions for digestion healing probiotics
  • Safe and scientific techniques (no more wasted and failed ferments)
  • Pickl-It specific recipes
  • Delicious, nutrient-dense recipes that are gluten free and paleo friendly
  • Food and equipment guides to help you make the most of your real food diet

Because I am working on healing my autoimmune disease, properly prepared ferments have taken a front and center stage in my life. This cookbook gives me the inspiration and motivation to always ensure I have healthy ferments on hand. I am often lacking in the fermentation inspiration-realm!

Some of the delicious recipes included in this book are:

  • Ginger Ale
  • Fresh Mint Chutney
  • Cherry Chutney
  • Kimchi (Lisa’s Way)
  • Awesome Half-Sour Pickles
  • Spiralized Daikon
  • Kefir Pistachio Pesto
  • Kefir Fruit Leather (check out Divine Health’s review of this recipe)
  • Dosa
  • Healthy Fries
  • Supertonic
  • Almost Polish Pickle Soup
  • Sprouted Quinoa Salad
  • Chicken Liver Pate
  • Braised Squid with Artichokes
  • Salmon Goat Cheese Roll-Ups
  • Foolproof Baby Back Ribs
  • Almost Cheesy Kale Chips
  • Goat Cheese Truffles
  • and much more!
