Book Review: A Simple Guide to the AIP // deliciousobsessions.com

My friend Eileen Laird over at Phoenix Helix just sent me A Simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol. (Thank you so much for the copy.)

It’s the PERFECT guide for anyone who suffers from an autoimmune disease.

If you’re not familiar with this term, the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) is a diet and lifestyle program designed to reduce inflammation, heal digestion, deliver nutrition that supports health, and ultimately help reverse autoimmune disease. It’s not a cure, but it can make a powerful difference in how you feel and countless people have experienced dramatic improvements in their health by following this protocol.

Eileen knows what she’s talking about! She uses the AIP to manage rheumatoid arthritis. When conventional medical treatments frightened her as much as the disease, she sought another option.

After reading about GAPS, Paleo, and Wahls diets, she started using food as medicine. Before then, she had daily joint flares that were excruciating, disabling, and terrifying. After just one week on the AIP diet, her flares began to lessen. One year later, her flares are gone. She isn’t cured but she’s 95% better and on a mission to help others regain their health after an autoimmune disease diagnosis.

This book is designed to make the transition to the AIP easier. It contains all of the essential information in a package small enough to throw in your purse or backpack. It’s simple enough that even someone with brain fog can understand. And it’s written like a conversation between friends.

To be 100% honest, I wish I had this book back in 2012 when I did AIP for the first time. It would have made life A LOT easier. 🙂

Here is some more information that you’ll get inside the book:

  • What is the AIP?
  • Foods to avoid and why
  • Foods to eat and why
  • Grocery list
  • An AIP kitchen
  • AIP spices, herbs and sauces
  • Sample menus
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Eating at restaurants
  • Traveling on the AIP
  • AIP holidays
  • Overcoming self-sabotage
  • Getting support
  • Gentle detoxification
  • Stress reduction
  • How to survive a flare
  • Reintroducing foods
  • Top 5 mistakes people make

It is an excellent resource and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is starting on the AIP, or even someone who is already on it, but just needs a handy resource to slip in their purse or leave in their car. It would also make an excellent gift if you know someone who is suffering from an autoimmune condition and is looking for a new way to manage their symptoms and heal their bodies.
