Has changing your diet changed your life?

Have you been wanting to change your diet, but are uncertain where to start?

Do you feel stuck with your diet and don’t know how to pull yourself out of a rut and get the results you have been wanting?

Well, today (and every day!), I want to help!

I am lucky that I was raised in a really healthy home, eating lots of real food, so I have always had this foundation of knowledge about how nutrition impacts health.

As I graduated from high school, went to college, and starting living independently, I gravitated towards most junk — mainly because it was cheap, fast, and easy, but I also think there was some rebellion in there too.

But, even when I was eating the bad food, I had this nagging voice in my head that kept reminding me that it was not good for me. And so, I finally came full circle and returned to my real food roots in my late 20s in an effort to improve my health.

In short, changing my diet has not only improved my health, but it motivated me to create a whole new career for myself. But what many people don’t realize is that changing one’s diet impacts MUCH MORE than just their physical body and health.

Most people don’t stop to think about the impact that food has on all aspects of our lives. Food impacts every single area of our life.

The most basic principle is that we must eat in order to live — food provides the nutrients to keep our bodies functioning. Even if you are eating a poor diet, the body is somehow still able to function — though massive nutritional deficits are taking place, thus leading to declined health later on.

But food goes so much deeper than just feeding our cells. Food is a powerful sensory and even spiritual connection for humans. It is a way that we connect with a higher power — for example, asking a blessing before a meal.

Shared meals connect us with loved ones, both past and present. Preparing food together as a family connects us with long-lost traditions from generations past. It bonds family members for life.

Food creates memories and ideas that will last us a lifetime. Do you remember baking cookies with your mother or grandmother? Even to this day, you can probably remember exactly how you made them, what they smelled like, how they tasted.

For me personally, food has played a big role in my life all the way from the start. My mother was an excellent cook and I started cooking with her from about the age of 3. Food and cooking may be the single-most important memory I have of my mother. It connected me with her at age 3, at age 35, and will keep me connected with her after she is gone.

So, you can see that food is such an incredibly important thing. Not only can the right foods create amazing health and vibrancy in your physical body, but the right foods can also improve your mental and spiritual health as well.

And because of that, I am super excited to have been part of the Change Your Diet, Change Your Life Summit, taking place over the next 4 weeks.
