{Note from Jessica: Today’s post is shared by my sweet friend Jess Kuh. Jess is a fellow real food lover with a passion for natural living, herbs, and anything that keeps her family and home healthy.}

This citrus smoothie is packed with flavor and is full of the vitamins and minerals. It’s the perfect afternoon snack to help get you through until the end of the day.

It’s the start of a new year and many of us use this time of a year to kick start our health goals. This means a lot of different things for many people but for me, it’s a continued journey to heal my Hashimoto’s.

I’ve been working on using a mineral balancing protocol for the past year with my NTP. It’s amazing how far I’ve come and would totally recommend that anyone that is looking for gentle healing to look at using an HTMA. It has been life-changing. I don’t say that lightly either. Make sure you read Jessica’s post about how HTMA changed her life.

One of the things I try to incorporate for me and, my entire family, is getting a wide range of vitamins and minerals in the form of whole food. Smoothies are great because they are easy, but they are also a great way for your kids to get some great nutrition while tasting yummy.

My kids love oranges and I love letting them eat them. They are full of vitamin C, which our bodies really need during the winter months. We decided to try doing a few new blends for our smoothies, and we decided we LOVE adding oranges. It gives such a nice “pop” of flavor.

And let’s face it, green smoothies get kind of old so this fun, bright orange/yellow is great for the kids to enjoy.

I like to make sure that every bite that goes into my kid’s mouth, and my own, is fulfilling a need. This smoothie is full of great minerals, especially potassium; it has a good dose of vitamin C and some protein with adding collagen to the mix.

While we don’t always use molasses, I’ve added a touch when my oranges weren’t quite as sweet.

Coupons for Citrus Smoothie Ingredients

I am always asked about my favorite ingredients and what I use in my own kitchen. I have linked to the products from my affiliate partners that I personally use and recommend. And now, here are the special coupon offers that select affiliate partners are currently offering:

  • Thrive Market: If you sign up through this link, you will get 15% OFF your first order.
  • Amazon, of course, has everything you need for this recipe. Their prices are often very good, though I love to shop around and sometimes find that Thrive Market has better deals. If you like saving money, it’s good to shop around! 🙂

Important Note On Gelatin Types

When it comes to gelatin or collagen, you don’t want any old gelatin off the supermarket shelves. You want to look for 100% grass-fed gelatin from healthy animals. Just like other animal products, quality is important.

That is why I recommend Vital Proteins Grass-Fed Gelatin products and Perfect Supplements products exclusively. I have compared these brand with other brands on the market and the quality far surpasses anything else I’ve tried. I am thrilled to be one of their affiliate partners and support such great products and companies.

Perfect Supplements offers a grass-fed hydrolyzed collagen (cold-soluble) right now and has a gelatin (hot-soluble) in the works for 2016. Read my review of their product here or watch the video below. You can order their own products via their own site here or on Amazon here.

Vital Proteins offers two types of gelatin. The green top (Collagen Protein) is what you need for this recipe and for recipes where you are making gummies, “jello”, etc. The blue top (Collagen Peptides) is cold water soluble and does not thicken or gel like gelatin does. Both are very nutritious, but can’t be used interchangeably. You can order their own products via their own site here or on Amazon here.
