Real Food Fast by Trina Holden

<<<This contest is now closed. The winners were announced here.>>>

Wow! June and July were the months for books, huh? I was asked by two fellow real food / traditional food bloggers to review their new ebooks. I am honored for the opportunity. I never cease to be amazed by the indepth knowledge and care that my fellow bloggers exhibit. Plus, their work inspires me to write more and create more!

The book that I reviewed was Real {Fast} Food, by Trina Holden. Trina is the creator and author of the All that is Good blog and she loves nutritious, real food cooking. She loves to share her knowledge and experience with her readers and just published a brand new ebook to help people understand that cooking real food meals doesn’t have to take hours of preparation. You really can eat ‘real {fast} food’!

Real {Fast} Food is over 50 pages long and it includes lots of how-to’s, along with many fantastic recipes to go along. Her recipes are sure to please even the pickiest of eaters. I know from personal experience that getting people to convert to real food can often be hard because they don’t want to give up their old favorites. But now, you don’t have to. You can still have your pizza, lasagna, and chocolate chip cookies — they’ll just be better for you!

The book is organized into three sections. Within each section, Trina has recipes that correspond with that chapter’s subject matter. That way your recipes and how-tos are all together.

The first section covers important things to help planning a real food menu easier. You can expect to see info and tips on:

  • Menu planning
  • Shopping list preparation
  • Batch cooking
  • and more!

Section two moves into how to make kitchen staples that will make it that much easier on you to prepare wholesome meals. Lots of how-to’s in here. You can expect to learn:

  • How to make stock (highly nutritious and cost effective)
  • How to make your own seasoning mixes (a more affordable option than pre-made mixes)
  • How to soak your grains for bread making
  • and more!

Section three talks specifically about your main meals of the day and how to ensure you’re prepared for each one. You’ll find recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with more helpful tips to keep your food prep moving along. My favorite recipe so far is Claire’s Nutbutter Brownies (page 54). These were a lifesaver recently when I had a horrific craving for brownies, but didn’t want to cave and make a big batch with all that flour and sugar!

Want more? This eBook will give you a ton of info and lots of great recipes for things like breakfast pizza, chicken pot pie, homemade sauces and condiments, vanilla ice cream, refried beans and more. And, at only $8.00 per book, that is a real steal for the amount of info you’re getting! To purchase the book, please visit this page. OR, you can enter for a chance to win one of THREE free copies that Trina has so graciously provided me for this giveaway.
