Who is Bubble & Bee?

Who is Bubble & Bee you ask? They are the makers of organic personal care products and I am a big fan of their deodorants. For years, I have known that commercial antiperspirants and deodorants are bad for you. All the aluminum and other chemicals are hazardous to your health and should be avoided. It has been said that the aluminum, which is the key ingredient in most antiperspirants, is actually linked to breast cancer. Whether this is true or not is still being debated. But, it is a fact that aluminum does cause certain health problems.

The aluminum in antiperspirants actually stops you from perspiring. Perspiration is one of our body’s detoxification methods, so, when we inhibit its ability to do that, we are leaving the toxins in our bodies, potentially causing illness. Most commonly, aluminum is a skin irritant. It is also a neurotoxin that can accumulate in the body. It has been suggested that aluminum toxicity and Alzheimer’s disease are very closely linked. Also, a cancer researcher by the name of Philippa Darbre, PhD, from the University of Reading has evidence that the active ingredient c0ntaining aluminum in antiperspirants can act like estrogen in the body, which is tied to increased risk of breast cancer. She goes on to say that parabens can also mimic estrogen and could potentially increase cancer risk. However, at this point in time, the research is still inconclusive one way or the other.

Whether or not aluminum causes cancer or not, I like to err on the side of caution and limit my exposure to toxins as much as possible. So, I tried to make the switch to natural deodorants. And, then I’d go back to regular antiperspirants. Then I’d try another natural brand. And, then I’d go back to regular antiperspirants. It was a vicious cycle. I just couldn’t find anything that worked.

That is until I found Bubble & Bee by accident (actually, my husband found them first, so I’ll give him full credit!). So far, I have tried the ‘Pit Putty 100% Organic Deodorant (clove scent), the Geranium Lime ‘Pit Putty, and the Lemongrass Rosemary 100% Organic Deodorant (Stick). They have all worked wonderfully. The clove and the lemongrass rosemary scents are my favorites and I use one or the other daily. The geranium scent was far too strong for me to use long-term. I don’t do well with strong floral scents, so I exchanged that scent for the lemongrass rosemary one. I have been using them for a couple months and am very pleased so far.
