As real foodies, most of us try to limit our intake of sweet treats. On the occasion that I do indulge in a treat, I want to make sure that I am not reversing all of the good I’ve done with my regular routine of clean eating. Fortunately, there are plenty of amazing options for gluten-free cookies, brownies, and bars made with high-quality ingredients!
Store-bought treats, even the gluten-free ones, are usually filled with artificial sweeteners, crazy amounts of sugar, food colorings, preservatives, and a bunch of other stuff that I just won’t eat. When made at home, you can select the best ingredients. You can choose to soak your nuts for better digestion and you can use organic or local ingredients.
I also love the idea of making cookies, brownies, or bars as treats, because of the built-in portion control. It’s easier to tell myself that I will have one or two cookies than it is to cut a small piece of pie!
Cookies, brownies, and bars are also perfect for sharing. Need to bring something to a party or a bake sale? Cakes and pies are always fun, but no need to bring a knife when you bake handheld treats!
