PoppySoapLogoI became acquainted with Poppy Soap, Co. last year when we teamed up for a review and giveaway of their awesome soaps. Since then, I have been a big fan of their products and have also gotten to know the owner, Lindy LaRoche, a little better. Her company has quickly become one of my favorites and I wholeheartedly support her mission to give back. It is not often that you come across a small business that is so dedicated on giving back, not only to their local community, but communities across the country. Her products are awesome, her personality is awesome, and her mission is awesome.

What is her mission, you ask? To help women in need. Through Poppy Soap’s “Bar for Bar” program, for every bar of soap that Poppy Soap Co. sells, they give one bar to women’s shelters across the country. To date, they have sent more than 3,000 bars to women’s shelters across the U.S..

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Only a small percentage (5%) will ever seek help from organizations, shelters or the police. While shelters provide valuable resources and support for women in need, the experience can often feel dehumanizing, isolating, and lonely.

What if there were a simple way to foster a sense of support and community by providing women in shelters with a warm welcome and a human touch? Poppy Soap is a company that is doing exactly that with a little help from their customers … and me!

Poppy Soap Co.: Organic Handmade Soap on a Give Back Mission

I’m proud to announce that I recently became an official Ambassador for Poppy Soap Co., the California-based organic, handmade soap company founded on the tenets of quality ingredients, sustainable practices, and giving back to local communities around the country. Poppy Soap Co. makes beautiful, organic soaps using a unique blend of organic oils that specifically address a range skin issues. Not only is their soap exceptional, they really care about the details, from their ingredients to the hand-stamped muslin bags each bar of soap is packaged in to the carbon offsets they purchase. This, coupled with their “Bar for Bar” Program really helps Poppy Soap Co., step apart from the competition.

Here are some photos from the soaps she sent me last fall. These pictures don’t do the products justice. They are simply gorgous and I found them almost too pretty to use (but, I did use them!) 🙂

Organic Handmade Soap on a Give Back Mission

On October 16, Poppy Soap Co. kicked off an Indiegogo campaign to raise some much needed funding. The Poppy Soap team is currently working out of a studio in founder Lindy LaRoche’s garage. They’re thrilled to be taking large orders from customers like The Four Seasons, but in order to fill the orders, they’ve got to have the space and equipment to grow their production. Not only will this help this home-grown, American-based company grow to the next level (and potentially open up new job opportunities in the community), it will also help ensure that more women in need across the country receive the help they need. With any luck, their crowdfunding campaign will help provide the funds to do just that. Check out her video below:

The funds raised will help keep the Bar for Bar program alive. Until now Lindy has been financially supporting the Bar for Bar program out of her own pocket. As support for the program has grown, the postage is really starting to add up. It’s time to help the Bar for Bar program stand on its own two legs so Poppy Soap Co. can continue making donations to shelters on behalf of their customers.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting this amazing company. By supporting Poppy Soap Co. you become part of a give back movement and a supporter of women in your local community. You’ll also get your hands (and face) on some awesome Poppy Soap perks. You’ll also become part of a story that proves it is possible to do business that is good for earth, good for people and good for our communities.

Please take a moment to check out the campaign and see if it is something you would like to support. There are some amazing perks for those who contribute to this crowdfunding campaign, so definitely don’t miss out on that! To support the campaign click here.

Disclosure: As a Bar for Bar Ambassador, Lindy has generously offered to send her Ambassadors (including me) some free products to try out and help spread the word, a donation to a women’s shelter of my choice, and some other goodies that will be shared with Delicious Obsessions readers. Regardless of this, I wholeheartedly support Lindy and Poppy Soap, Co. in their mission to give back to their community and communities across the country.
