Organic Valley’s Bad Behavior

I am so very disappointed to see this coming out about Organic Valley. It really makes me think twice about purchasing their products, which makes me sad because I LOVE their cultured butter. However, I am a strong supporter of the local family farm and OV’s actions are unacceptable in my mind. In a decision made by their board, OV has decided to penalize dairies in their co-op if they are found to have purchasers of their raw milk products, other than OV.  This is catastrophic news to those farmers who rely on additional sales of their raw milk and raw milk products. Big business at it’s “best” I guess. It seems like all they do is bully the little guy.

Organic Valley is NOT local milk….its milk from 1600 farms all mixed together and then processed. If you want to know where your milk is coming from, you really need to pick up direct from the farm.
Try   REALMILK dot com   for a source of real local, unprocessed milk from independent American farmers. Anything else is “state” milk…or government milk.

With  REALMILK that has not been processed or homogenized, you can easily make your own butter. Its easy, fun and tastes better than anything you can buy at the store……and it supports a local independent dairy.
Unfortunately the state won’t allow small independent dairy to make butter. They want to keep that market for their best campaign contributors. All Organic Valley producers belong to the state collective.

Thanks for the comment! I agree, fresh, homemade butter is one of the best things you’ll ever taste! I don’t make it often, but whenever I can get some extra real milk, I do.
